Vanillaware’s Kamitami: Team’s ‘Dream’ Is To Make nline Game

release in September from publisher Ignition — asked if he could “talk a little about Vanillaware’s dream” to Gamasutra. When prompted he explained: “Well I worked on [online game] Fantasy Earth for Square Enix a few years ago and a lot of us on the team want to try our hand at another online MM project — 2D 3D whatever. We’ve got Fantasy Earth II running through our minds all of us. “Before that though we’d like to make a few 2D online games first. To make that happen we need money but money has a habit of getting spent pretty quickly around the company. Interestingly later in the interview the Japanese independent developer head revealed a further interest in real-time strategy games noting:”I don’t know if I’d call it inspiration but I love playing Warcraft and StarCraft online.

The game however does not require this device; it has already launched at. But it’s not just available online; packages with the online game on a CD-RM (along with an action figure and a $10 cash card) have already been launched into retail allowing the company to appeal to kids and parents who aren’t as aware of the online world.

It was the middle of a weekday afternoon and 23 people were seated at monitors. By the time I left 28 people were at the machines or standing in line to purchase Internet time. At the back was a reception window similar to what you’d see in a doctor’s office.

Warhammer nline: Age of Reckoning Comes to the Mac

The game is expected to be released this fall although Mac gamers can download a beta version now. Based on the legendary fantasy-themed tabletop war game Warhammer nline: Age of Reckoning (WAR) is a massively multiplayer online game originally developed by Mythic Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts (EA) for the PC in September 2008. Like other recent EA Mac titles Warhammer nline works by way of TransGaming’s Cider translation technology which works on Intel-based Macs only. Described as a “Realm vs. Realm” (RvR) game Warhammer nline pits players against each other in massive online battles. Players can participate in public quests with other players and unlock Warhammer lore detailed monster information new abilities and rewards and even major story plotlines using the Tome of Knowledge.
